Who doesn’t absolutely love bacon? (That was a trick question)

The love of bacon is born in us. In fact, bacon has made such an impact on the world that there’s now a day dedicated to the candy of meat.

Tomorrow is International Bacon Day and to honor one of the most wonderful holidays in the world, The Social Silo has compiled some of our favorite bacon-centric material from around the web. Scroll through the page for recipes, articles, photos and our favorite bacon memes.

Be prepared. Your mind is about to be blown…with bacon.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 4 to 6 minutes per

side. Transfer to a plate. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the drippings and set aside to cool. Crumble the bacon. Beat the butter and reserved bacon drippings in a large bowl with a mixer on until smooth, about 1minute. Beat in the granulated and light brown sugar until creamy, about 4 minutes, then add the egg and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy, about 2 more minutes. Add the flour mixture in 2 additions, scraping down the bowl as needed, until just combined. Stir in bacon and chocolate chips. Form the dough into 13 balls and arrange 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes for chewy cookies, 10 for crispier cookies.

Note:

We tried these cookies at the office and they were delicious! We also added a chocolate drizzle to our cookies to make them even more decadent.

Bacon in the News

Bacon is often the topic of conversation around many reputable newsrooms, but this particular story really caught our eye–bacon- flavored coffee. Say again? You must be  joking…

Nope, we’re not kidding. Some mad scientist of awesome decided to take the two most important food groups and combine them into one, superior sipping, experience.

According to The Huffington Post, Des Moine, Iowa, resident Eileen Gannon, won top honors in the Seattle’s Best Coffee Recipe Contest.

We told you! Bacon is awesome! Bacon is so great that a study concluded that men prefer the smell of frying bacon over babies. No babies were harmed in the study.
