Jason Harris’ daughter, Maggie, seems to know that cows like raspberries, too.

For Farm and Dairy‘s Just Say Cheese photo contest, Harris sent in this photo of Maggie sharing fresh-picked raspberries with her grandpa’s dairy cows.

The photo became the second weekly winner in the contest.

We had a great time looking over the entries for the second week. A few readers got creative with their photos, dressing up in a variety of costumes from hunks of cheese to cows to characters from The Oregon Trail.

They might not have won the contest, but they definitely got an “A” for their effort. We loved their enthusiasm!

Our editorial staff also loved Vera Stanley and her steer, who dressed up as Paul Bunyan and Babe the Ox and modeled with a tray of ice cream cones.

To those of you who have yet to join in the fun, what are you waiting for?!

Visit www.farmanddairy.com/just-say-cheese to see the official rules and to enter.

Winners are selected each Monday through the end of June. The grand-prize winner will be announced June 30.

Weekly winners will receive four free issues of Farm and Dairy, a Farm and Dairy T-shirt and mug and a $25 gift certificate to Baskin Robbins.

The grand-prize winner will receive a three-gallon tub of Penn State Creamery ice cream in the flavor of his or her choice.

Farm and Dairy can’t wait to see what this week brings!

The Social Silo is the new “social face” of the newspaper Farm and Dairy. We want to be a community blog about the rural world. About manure. About county fair prize-winning pie recipes. Just not in the same sentence. We want to foster communication between farmers and nonfarmers, to share different perspectives, to make us all think and grow a little. We want to ask questions, and listen to your answers.
